Homemade Taco Seasoning

It is eye opening to look at the ingredients of most taco seasoning packets to discover all of the unnecessary fillers that have been added. It takes only seconds to prepare your own Homemade Taco Seasoning. You probably already have most, if not all of the spices in your pantry. If not, investing in your own spices is essential for great cooking. You’ll recoup the cost soon if you avoid buying the prepackaged taco seasonings!
Why DIY Taco Seasoning is Best?
This seasoning is perfect for ground beef tacos, fish tacos, chicken tacos and anything else you normally make with taco seasoning. I made Taco Salads for dinner last night and this seasoning was perfect for the meat! Here’s why you’ll love this recipe:
- No MSG, no fillers, and no sugar – Many brands of store-bought taco seasonings have flour, malodextrin, anti caking agents, MSG and sugar added. GROSS!
- Keeps well – Store in an airtight container with a lid and it will last in the pantry for a few months, without the preservatives in taco seasoning packets. Almost all food you buy prepackaged has junk in it because of shelf life.
- Exceptional-quality – You control the ingredients so you can buy quality spices. Make sure to smell your spices and if you notice a weak fragrance, it may be time to replace.
- Quick – Combine the ingredients and you’re done.
How Much Taco Seasoning is in a packet?
Substitute taco seasoning in the same amount as what is in a packet. Typically 2 Tablespoons of homemade taco seasoning is equal to 1 packet of store bought seasoning.
The recipe makes 3 tablespoons of seasoning so double the recipe and be ready for your next Taco Tuesday!
