Keto Sesame Garlic Beef Stir Fry

A fast, flavorful low-carb stir fry with tender beef, crisp vegetables, and a savory sesame-garlic sauce — all without seed oils or added sugar. I made a stir fry asian cauliflower rice to serve with this in a bowl. It was so easy and delicious! I’ve made this dish several times with lots of variety but it always turns out.
Why This Works
- Tender beef: a quick baking soda velvet technique keeps the meat soft and restaurant-style tender.
- Low carb: mostly non-starchy vegetables with only a few carrot slivers for color and sweetness.
- Seed-oil free: uses avocado oil, tallow, or coconut oil.
- Flavor packed: garlic, ginger, coconut aminos, sesame, and a touch of lime create a rich sauce without sugary bottled stir fry sauces.

- ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1–2 teaspoons keto sweetener (optional)
- 1 teaspoon xanthan gum OR 1 teaspoon arrowroot if you don’t mind a few carbs
For Cooking
- 1–2 tablespoons avocado oil, beef tallow, or coconut oil
- Sesame seeds for garnish
Tender Beef Trick (Highly Recommended)
Place sliced beef in a bowl with:
- baking soda
- water
- salt
Mix well and let sit for 15–20 minutes.
Then rinse lightly and pat dry VERY well.
This simple velveting step makes inexpensive beef surprisingly tender.
Instructions
1. Make the Sauce
Whisk together:
- coconut aminos
- sesame oil
- lime juice
- fish sauce
- red pepper flakes
- sweetener if using
- xanthan gum or arrowroot
Set aside.
2. Cook the Broccoli
Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
Add a little avocado oil or tallow.
Cook broccoli 3–4 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Remove and set aside.
3. Sear the Beef
Increase heat to high.
Add more oil if needed.
Cook beef in batches so it browns instead of steaming:
- about 1–2 minutes per side
Remove from pan.
4. Stir Fry the Vegetables
Add:
- onions
- bell peppers
- carrots
Cook 3–4 minutes until slightly softened but still crisp.
Add garlic and ginger during the last 30 seconds.
5. Finish
Return broccoli and beef to the pan.
Pour sauce over everything and toss well.
Cook another 1–2 minutes until glossy and hot.
Top with:
- sesame seeds
- green onions
Optional Add-Ins
These work really well while staying keto-friendly:
- Mushrooms
- Snow peas (small amount)
- Shredded cabbage
- Water chestnuts (not super low carb but adds crunch)
- Jalapeño slices
