Butter Powder Pancakes

Butter Powder Changed My Pancake Routine
I’ve been cooking with butter powder lately, and it has honestly changed my life in the kitchen. My pancake recipe made with simple ingredients—mainly butter powder, eggs, and cinnamon—is rich, flavorful, and most importantly, low carb. What surprises most people is that these pancakes taste delicious even without syrup.
I do sometimes drizzle just a small amount of syrup, but I always use 100% pure maple syrup. And there’s a very important reason why…
So Many Syrups Contain Zero Maple
Walk down the breakfast aisle and you’ll see dozens of bottles that look just like maple syrup—but most of them don’t contain a single drop of real maple sap. They may use words like “Original,” “Homestyle,” “Butter Flavored,” or even “Maple Flavored,” yet the ingredient list reveals the truth.
Common “pancake syrup” ingredients include:
- Corn syrup
- High fructose corn syrup
- Water
- Artificial flavors
- Caramel color
- Preservatives
Not one bit of maple. These syrups are cheap imitations designed to mimic the flavor and color of maple syrup.
How to Check Your Syrup Label
When you’re choosing syrup, look for one key phrase on the front and the ingredient panel:
✔ “100% Pure Maple Syrup”
✔ Ingredient list: Maple syrup. That’s it.
If you see anything else—especially corn syrup or “maple flavor”—you’re holding pancake syrup, not maple syrup.
This is why, when I want a little sweetness on my pancakes, I always reach for the real thing. The flavor is richer, deeper, and you don’t need much.

I’ve used this butter powder for so many things lately:
- Pancakes
- Biscuits
- Homemade buns
- Savory sauces
- Veggies
- Breading mixtures
- Popcorn seasoning
- Any recipe where I want buttery flavor without melting butter
It adds richness without the mess and keeps everything low carb and seed-oil-free.

Nutritional Comparison: Butter Powder Pancakes vs Hungry Jack
People often ask whether these pancakes are really lower carb. Yes—by a mile.
My Butter Powder Pancakes (2 pancakes):
- ~275 calories
- ~5g carbs
- High in protein
- Zero seed oils
- Naturally gluten-free
Hungry Jack Mix (2 pancakes):
- ~180–200 calories
- 20–30g carbs depending on mix
- Made with wheat flour and added sugar
- Often contains vegetable/seed oils
The difference is huge, especially if you follow low-carb, keto, or clean-ingredient eating.
Perfect for Meal Prep
One of my favorite things about these butter powder pancakes is how well they store. I often make a small batch ahead of time and keep them in the fridge. They reheat perfectly in the toaster, skillet, or air fryer and make a quick breakfast or even a snack.
Because they’re already flavorful, I rarely feel like I need anything on top—but when I do, it’s just the tiniest drizzle of real maple syrup.
Final Thoughts
Butter powder has completely transformed the way I make breakfasts. It gives me buttery flavor without the carbs, without the hassle, and without seed oils. Combine that with choosing 100% pure maple syrup and avoiding those artificially flavored syrups, and you’ve got a clean, low-carb breakfast that tastes indulgent but works for your lifestyle.
If you haven’t tried cooking with butter powder yet, start with pancakes—you’ll be hooked just like I was.
